Can prayer change the world?
Prayer can change the world according to one in five adults in the UK, a finding revealed in the latest research published by Tearfund. The survey found that in the UK 20 million adults say they pray (outside of church services), that is 42% of the population. Of these, 10 million believe that prayer ‘changes the world’, while 12 million believe that prayer ‘changes what happens in my life’ and ‘what happens to other people I know’.
London is the prayer capital with 73% of people praying, but only 24% pray in Yorkshire/Humberside. Praying for family and friends was the most common theme for prayer with 68% of the prayers, (81% among regular churchgoers). The second most common theme was thanking God with 41% of the total prayers (64% among regular churchgoers). This interesting report can be downloaded here. |
